About Teahupo’o

Teahupo’o is a village on the southwestern coast of Tahiti, French Polynesia, known worldwide for its heavy, hollow reef break. The wave breaks over a sharp coral reef just offshore, producing some of the thickest, most perfect barrels on the planet.

The break gained international fame when it was added to the World Surf League Championship Tour and hosted surfing events during the 2024 Paris Olympics. When conditions align — a deep-water southwest swell meets offshore southeast trade winds — Teahupo’o transforms into a terrifying, awe-inspiring wall of water.

This site provides real-time monitoring of the conditions that make this wave come alive: swell height, direction, period, wind speed, and water temperature. Whether you’re a professional surfer planning a strike mission or an ocean enthusiast watching from afar, we’ve got you covered.
